Create a digital guide to share your local tips

Help guests get to know your area with a personalised digital travel guide.

Many hosts offer local suggestions, such as where you can have a good coffee or enjoy an unforgettable dinner. Instead of writing tips for each guest, creating a digital guide on Airbnb can help you save time by bringing your recommendations together in one place.

Guests can access your guide from the Trips tab and from your listing, or you can send it directly to them in a message using the Share Recommendations tool. We tell you how to get the most out of your guide so you can show your surroundings and offer guests an authentic and unique experience.

What is a guide?

A guide allows you to offer information to guests to highlight your hospitality and the offerings of your community. You can create a personalised guide on Airbnb for guests to have on hand.

You decide what kind of recommendations you want to share, so think about what you would like to be recommended to you as a traveller. Guests often appreciate recommendations for places to eat, places of interest, unique shops, and interesting outdoor experiences.

5 tips for creating a great guide

  1. Be brief. Write short recommendations so that guests can quickly read them. Help them understand what the accommodation or experience is like and explain why it’s worth it.
  2. Personalise it. The most useful recommendations are based on personal knowledge and experience. It is best if you only recommend places that you have personally enjoyed.
  3. Mention the special features. Be sure to include any unique or standout features, such as a restaurant’s beautiful outdoor patio or a store’s special locally sourced section.
  4. Include a photo. If possible, make your guide more attractive by uploading photos of the places you recommend.
  1. Keep it updated. Check your guide from time to time to make sure all the information is still accurate and add new suggestions.

Do you have more than one ad?

Guides are linked to your host account and not to a particular listing (which is helpful for those who have multiple rooms or listings in a certain area).

How guests access your guide

Guests can access your guide from your listing and profile page, as well as from the Trips tab, where it will appear automatically once the reservation is confirmed.

You may also want to share your guide with guests via messaging. It’s easy to do, just tap the Share recommendations icon in your messages. This tool also allows you to recommend a select mix of local Airbnb Experiences.

We know you go above and beyond to create unforgettable stays, and we hope the digital guide will help you recommend great local activities to guests.

Should I create a physical guidebook too?

We have found that many guests prefer to have a physical guide that they can peruse whilst they are relaxing in your home. Not all bookings are made by the person who is staying at the Airbnb listing so giving them more options is always a good idea!

How can I create a physical guidebook?

These guides can easily be created by using online media creation tools such as Canva. You can also make a more basic one using Microsoft Word on a PC, Pages on a Mac or Google docs which covers all operating systems. For all of our listings we make a beautifully crafted bespoke guide book for your properties.
